Shelley H. Allen, Ph.D.
Shelley H. Allen earned her Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 1994, specializing in children’s literature, elementary language arts, and classroom discourse. She has taught elementary school as well as university-level courses in language arts and children’s literature. At Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt University, she worked as a research associate and later as a project coordinator for large-scale reading-related research projects. Dr. Allen has authored a book chapter, coauthored journal articles, and presented papers at national conferences. Currently, she stays at home full time, sharing her love of children’s books with her young son.
