I am from Australia and I am just beginning to understand the Science of Reading. I had heard great things about this book and I found it here at a reasonable price. I'm so glad I did because this book is fantastic. It has lists of words, meanings and is very easy to follow. I am really happy with the product and the price.

Posted by on 18th May 2020

Our state is changing over to the "Science of Reading" and this book has been inspirational in helping me to tread the unknown floodwaters of Phonemic Awareness. I cannot wait to use the kinesthetic approach lessons with my struggling students. I also love that it has the 6 syllable types broken down with word lists for each of them. It's going to be a wonderful year!

  4. LOVE IT!!! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Feb 2017

This book has been wonderful for helping my 1st grade students grasp short and long vowel sounds. I plan to try it out with some of my Kindergarten students who are struggling with phoneme/grapheme relationships. I Think this will help them with beginning reading, because I've tried everything and they are failing.

  5. Such a difference!! 5 Star Review

After working with students who struggled with vowel teams for over a month, just a week of practicing and they mastered 90% and could go on to a new skill! What a difference this made! It's so well organized and any questions about mapping I was able to find with minimal effort!

  7. This Is One Map That Will Get You Where You Need TO GO! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Oct 2014

I LOVE this book! Well-organized, easy to follow, great systematic instruction for spelling. Every teacher should have this resource and follow the lessons so that kids will learn the logic of English spelling. Such a MUCH better way to learn it than using the hit-and-miss lessons that come with most language arts series. Furthermore, the ideas in the lessons can be incorporated in those series' lessons if you have to use them. Buy this book!!!

  8. Spelling help must have 5 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Mar 2014

I am thrilled with this program. After being informed of it at a school in-service program, I immediately purchased the book. Some of my colleagues have also purchased it and have put it to use in their classrooms. So far, they are happy with the results. I can see how this is benefiting our problem spellers.

  9. A must have for elementary level teachers of literacy 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Nov 2013

This is an outstanding resource for teachers of literacy. Phoneme-grapheme mapping is an outstanding tool for Tier I, Tier II and Tier III literacy instruction. It allows for explicit and systematic instruction of encoding. Through this process students' dramatically improve in their ability to decode words as well. The organization of the book facilitates educators' ability to use this book in concert with other approaches (i.e., Structured Language, Readers/Writers Workshop, or basal programs). I especially like the clear and concise instructions that Kathryn Grace provides for teachers to use in their lessons as well as the lists of words the exemplify each pattern.
