Kevin Dwyer MA, NCSP
Kevin Dwyer, MA, NCSP, is senior advisor for prevention and children's Mental Health at the National Mental Health Association (NMHA). Prior to joining NMHA, Dwyer was president of the National Association of School Psychologists. For more than 30 years, Dwyer served as a school psychologist in Maryland's Prince George's and Montgomery Counties, serving an estimated 10,000 children, youths, and families. He co-authored Early Warning, Timely Response: A Guide to Safe Schools and Safeguarding our Children: An Action Guide for the U.S. Departments of Education and Justice. Dwyer was instrumental in the passage of the 1997 Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, and led the Mental Health-Special Education Coalition, a broad-based coalition of 30 national organizations that has proven to be an effective advocacy voice for children's mental health. Dwyer received the 2001 Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of School Psychologists.
