Doris Luft Baker, Ph.D.

Doris Luft Baker is director of Indicadores Dinámicos del Éxito en la Lectura research at Dynamic Measurement Group. She also is a Regional Coordinator for Oregon Reading First where she provides technical assistance to schools with a paired bilingual program. Doris has a bachelor's degree in psychology from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, where she graduated with honors, and a Master's Degree in Latin American Studies from San Diego State University. She holds her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Oregon with a specialization in assessment. Prior to her doctoral studies, Doris was a Spanish instructor at the University of Oregon, where she taught all Spanish language level courses. She won an instructor of the year award in 2002. Doris has worked closely with Dr. Roland Good on the development of the Indicadores Dinámicos del Exito en la Lectura (IDEL) measures, and IDEL training materials since 2003. They are currently completing progress monitoring probes for all IDEL measures. Other areas of research include: the creation of Spanish templates to enhance Spanish early reading programs, the use of Read Alouds to develop language proficiency for students that are not native English speakers, and the validity of using DIBELS and IDEL to exit Spanish speaking students from transitional bilingual programs. Doris has presented extensively in national and international conferences.
